Sometimes it just takes getting the demons out in the open to release their hold on you. Sometimes it takes more, but sometimes voicing it out loud is enough.
Faking it till you make it works with faith, too. At least for me it does.
Then there’s room for JOY again.
Room for peace to resume its place.
Room for laughter to find its way into the everyday.
Room for old school singalongs to Motley Crüe.
Room for a sunrise to take your breath away with every inch it explodes into the sky.
Room for belly laughs to take over when your child tells you explaining something simple to you is like explaining rocket science to a horse...and the horse just keeps naying in response.
Room for both a favorite Ozzy Osborne song and a favorite Casting Crowns song to be sung at ridiculous volume levels in your snazzy, blacked out wheelchair accessible van as you are decked out in your best makeup-less face and non-washed hair headed to pick up your middle schooler after exams.
Room for you to enjoy the renewed bounce in your sweet puppy dog’s step after a brief few days off of her chemo med.
Room to rejoice in yet another brand new day after a brutal week of no sleep and seizures for your sweet littlest...and hoping that the barometric pressure change, full moon and Friday the 13th trifecta are over for a while.
Room to offer praise for understanding ‘most of’ a simple phone conversation with a neurologist/researcher with both MD and PhD after her name.
Room for thankfulness for simple things like the ability to volunteer in your child’s school library with some of the sweetest souls while you try your best to recall your knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System.
Room to realize just how fortunate you are to have not just an incredible husband, but a partner who cheers you on, steadies you when you can’t find your sea legs, loves his children in a way that is truly sent from heaven and shows up each day to do it all over again...sleep or no sleep.
Room to earnestly thank God for the time you had with loved ones no longer here and the time you have with those here now.
Room to see nature as Nana must have seen it and realizing how often we miss out on that gift.
Room to get the laundry done....at least for today.
Room to realize that the greatest joys in life often emerge from the greatest struggles.
And room to tuck these away in your renewed soul for the day that the clouds roll in again. Being assured that the ebb and flow of life truly is a gift for which to be eternally grateful.
After our 3 month old son was diagnosed with a brain abnormality resulting in a difficult to control seizure disorder, we decided to join the blogging world and share with our family and friends the ups and downs, ins and outs and blessings of our journey.
