After that sweet video yesterday, Logan laid back down for a nap - likely to recover from the seizure that, although it stopped, was rough on his little body. That was around 3:30. He slept, in the same position, until around 8:30pm.
He woke up and was happy. Making sweet new sounds, using every part of his body to try and talk to us, working as hard as he could to get his thoughts to actually reach our ears. He had his bath, got his meds and ate his evening dinner. Nana slept with him last night since Fred was at the game (GO PANTHERS!!!) and said that he had trouble going back to sleep, which is no real surprise since he slept all afternoon.
At 1:23am she came to get me....it was one of the bad ones. We gave Diastat, got him changed and kept him comfortable until it was over - about 15 minutes.
I went back to bed and Nana took over. She said he played and giggled until about 4am when he could finally go back to sleep, although his little muscles twitched for most of that time.
At 4:22am he had another kind of rough seizure, although this one didn't require any intervention from us.
Finally, after that, he could sleep...peacefully.
This morning he woke up to eat and went right back to sleep.
So how do we explain why things happen the way they do? We can't.
We can't. Medical professionals can't. No one can at this point.
So as grateful as we are for moments when we have our baby back, when we see that precious sparkle in his pretty blue eyes, we can't for a moment stop forging ahead in this mission placed in our lives. This commitment that we have to Logan and so many families like ours.
We have to find a CURE. We have to find ways along the road to a CURE for everyone who battles seizures DAILY to have a better quality of life. We can't just sedate them and hope for the best.
They deserve better. Their siblings deserve better. Everyone who loves them and cares for them deserves better.
There are enough of us in this world to help every cause out there. To help make the world a better place. To put others before ourselves and listen to what God is telling us is our platform and what to do with the amazing and powerful voice He has given each of us.
I want partners on this journey. I want people to join this journey to a CURE for Epilepsy because that is what God has put on their hearts. Because that is where God has directed their voice to be used and the cause for which He has designed their platform.
What is your platform?
What it is that your voice will say?
It's time to figure it out. Someone out there somewhere...needs you.
